Social awareness of global warming is growing. The statistics are terrifying - our planet is in deteriorating condition. We must be aware of this and react. In Norway and elsewhere, there are more and more strikes to defend the climate. In March, there was a groundbreaking demonstration in which 20.000 students from all over Norway took part. Another strike took place on May 24, 2019 on Friday. Students and teachers from 26 schools, including Oslo, Bergen, Stavanger and Trondheim, were involved.

Climate warming - young people say no to climate change

The condition of our planet is not good. Scientists are still sounding the alarm to alert people to the negative effects of global warming. A few weeks ago, the UN report on biodiversity and ecosystem services was presented. At the moment, as many as 25 percent of species are endangered today, and about a million of them will disappear in the next decades. Palm oil production, pollution, plastic in the ocean. Humanity is changing the climate. If we want to prevent this - we must act - not tomorrow, not the day after tomorrow - now. Norwegian students set an example for us.

An amazing Swedish woman who "made the world ashamed"

The strike was inspired by an unusual, young Swedish woman who had recently become very loud. 16-year-old Greta Thunberg started a fight and pulled others with her. She initiated a protest action at the sight of the growing wave of forest fires. With great determination, for several weeks she sat on the steps in front of the parliament in Stockholm and handed out leaflets explaining her actions: "I'm doing this because you adults are losing my future." It is true that Sweden is a very good example when it comes to energy transformation, but just like any other country, it has a lot to do. It is not only about the energy itself, but also about adapting to new climatic conditions. Greta made an appeal to the public to be more sensitive about the climate.

The fight is still going on

16-year-old Greta is still struggling. Shortly before the official start of the 24th Climate Summit of the Conference of the Parties - COP 24 in Katowice, Greta met with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres. She called for the cessation of harmful emissions - she addressed her words to, among others, heads of states and citizens. In March 2019, three Norwegian parliamentarians nominated Greta Thunberg as a candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize. It is worth paying attention to the fact that if her nomination won, she would be the youngest winner of this award.

Climate change - small steps, big deal!

Do you think you have no influence on global warming? Big mistake! It is humans who largely contribute to climate change. Good news is that each of us can do something for the good of the planet. You don't need major modifications or dramatic changes in your life right away. The small steps method works great. Remember that how we live and treat this world affects our existence, our families, friends, and future generations. Will our children and grandchildren enjoy clean air? We must do everything in our power to make this happen.

Changing your daily habits is a must!

It is worth starting with even the smallest changes. Modification of views, respect for the planet, sensitivity to other people, the world of flora and fauna is essential. What can we do?

  • save electricity,
  • use energy-saving solutions in the electronics / household appliances industry,
  • reduce meat consumption - in favor of more vegetables and fruits,
  • limit the use of plastic,
  • do not waste food,
  • to segregate waste.
  • educate others,
  • teach your children to be sensitive to the needs of our planet from an early age.

For the love of "Mother Earth"

Let's take care of the environment and each other. Let us teach children to care for the planet - if they are sensitive from an early age - healthy, positive habits will be something natural and obvious for them. We want to live in a happy, safe world.
