Controversy over abolition relief. Poles want to renounce Polish citizenship!

We wrote about changes in tax law in the text: Working abroad unprofitable? Less abolition relief .... Let us remind you. September 16 this year. a controversial draft amendment to the Income Tax Act was approved. According to him, the abolition allowance will be limited from January 1, 2021 to the amount of PLN 1360. What does this mean in practice? We can use it up to the amount of 8 thousand. zloty. We will have to pay tax to the Polish Tax Office on the surplus amount. So far, we have been able to avoid it.

What do Poles emigrating for economic reasons?

The changes met with a response right away. According to opponents, the government looks for savings wherever it can and it is not a good path.

“I have been working in Norway for many years. I left here to earn money for my family: wife and three children. I want to provide them with a better life. The abolition of the tax relief means that working abroad is no longer profitable. This is absurd!” I am thinking about changing citizenship and getting rid of Polish citizenship, if Tomek from Oslo is to enter into force.

“I work hard here. I broke up with my loved ones. Physical work is not the easiest thing. It's just tribute! It's our money. Someone is trying to take them away from us.” Radek from Bergen.

“I live in Norway with my husband and children. We went to Norway thinking that we would start a new, better life here. Eliminating the relief is very unfair. We live here, here we are working. Why should we pay such high tax in Norway? This is not okay." - Anne of Mysen.
