Over 50 percent more reported child sexual crimes in the first four months of 2021.

Police records show that 1052 reported sexual offenses against children under the age of 16 in the first four months of the year. This is an increase of 53,6% compared to the previous year.

The police report shows the number of reports in the first four months of this year.

A total of 367 more cases of sexual offenses were reported against children under 16 years of age. 1052 sexual crimes were reported against this group.

Police Director Benedicte Bjørnland says that number increase reported sexual crimes is mainly due to the fact that several serious cases of cyberbullying were detected in the first four months of 2021. Moreover, this is just after the implementation of pandemic measures. Comparing 2020, very few cases were reported.
