Pawlikowski's new film, Ryszard Petru's departure from the ranks of Nowczesna, and lightning strikes all over Poland. All of this has happened in the past two days.

Pawlikowski's Cold War in Cannes

The official screening of Paweł Pawlikowski's new film was met with incredible enthusiasm. A few-minute standing ovation seems to herald another success for the Polish director. Whose previous picture, Ida, won an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. Although the plot was set at the turn of the 50s and 60s, it also touches upon Pawlikowski's personal sphere. By paying a tribute to the life of his parents and expressing a sense of one's own national identity. At the same time, the film delights with its tasteful form and amazing soundtrack bordering on jazz and native folklore. In the backstage, you hear that the Golden Palm may go to Pawlikowski. We keep our fingers crossed that the streak, which is bad for Poles, in Cannes, will be interrupted.

Ryszard Petru leaves the ranks of Nowoczesna

The founder of the Nowoczesna party announced today that he is leaving the party he founded. The politician argues for his decision by diverging views and moods among party members and the main assumptions that guided him when he established the party into existence. According to Katarzyna Lubnauer, who recently replaced him as party leader. The reason, however, is not ideological, but personal. Lubnauer expressed hope for further cooperation with Petru in the future and emphasized that the time of building a civic coalition was not a good time for intra-party divisions.

Downpours paralyze Polish streets

The storm does not let go of another day. Violent storms, sometimes with hail, are to be expected across the country. This time, there were floods in the Tri-City, which caused the local traffic of Gdańsk trams to be stopped. The streets of many parts of the city were flooded. The rainfall began around 16:00 p.m., and an hour later it was decided to convene a meeting of the Crisis Staff. Violent weather also affected the center of the country. The storms made numerous difficulties in the partially paralyzed Łódź, on the official profile of which we can read that the situation is not optimistic. Within an hour, as much as 30 liters of water fell per square meter - about 170 interventions by the fire brigade during that time. Not only the streets were flooded, but also the Łódź Fabryczna Railway Station.

Until 18:00 p.m. today, almost 25 lightning discharges took place. For security purposes, officials informed about the need to follow the orders of services securing flooded areas, and the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management issued second-degree warnings about storms and strong winds in ten provinces. We also urge you to be cautious, take care of yourself!
