Parents are still debating and confused about vaccinating their children. Anti-vaccines do not improve the situation with their stance. Their actions lead to the return of diseases that have ceased to occur thanks to vaccinations. Now measles is returning, the occurrence of which in Europe and around the world is so frequent that we can speak of a real epidemic.

The disease is spreading in Europe and other parts of the world. When planning a trip, type of transport and duration of stay abroad, it is worth considering MMR vaccination earlier. This procedure is recommended before arriving in a country affected by a measles epidemic, whether you want to spend your vacation or holiday in Europe or outside of it.

In which countries is there an epidemic of measles?

In many countries at risk of spreading this disease, the public has not been vaccinated. The lack of specific data does not make it easier to recognize the situation. The European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) monitor the situation and regularly report on reported cases within and outside Europe. According to WHO, countries at risk of an influenza epidemic include:

  • Belgium
  • Bosnia and Herzegovina
  • France
  • Georgia
  • Kazakhstan
  • Romania
  • Serbia
  • Ukraine
  • Włochy

It is difficult to say when the disease may spread in a given area. When visiting family and friends, it is worth asking about the emergency. WHO reports that the disease has stopped spreading in America, but it is not an established condition. In Africa and Asia, the risk is constant, hence travel vaccination is recommended. Before leaving, it is advisable to consult your pediatrician.
