How Poles love football is evidenced by the fact that there are two Polish football clubs in Norway alone. We recently wrote about Polish community in Stavanger, but it is also worth mentioning Bergkrystall FK. This team was founded in 2012 and is currently the longest operating Polish team in the Land of Fjords.

Bergkrystall FK - how it started

The football team Bergkrystall FK was founded in 2012. The originators were the players Paweł Urbański and Marcin Biernat, who still perform in the club. The first president of the club did a huge job, and it was Rafał Niedzielko. From the very beginning, the club has also been supported by Piotr Hadziński. The idea of starting your own team was born from the passion of a group of Poles for football. Before this happened, a large group of local Poles met on the pitch regularly every Friday.

The beginnings were not easy

As usual, the beginnings were extremely difficult. They were also associated with huge costs. The founders of Brgkrystall FK thank Protan AS and Gjerdebetongpumpe AS, which were the first to sponsor the club. The coach and president of the SK Viggo club also helped. They even proposed that the Poles should act as SK Viggo 2, which was to avoid having to go through the formalities. The vast majority of players, however, preferred to register their own team.

There were several name suggestions

The founders sent several proposals for the names of the club to the Norwegian football federation. However, each of them was rejected for formal reasons - according to the regulations in force, the names of any team may not refer to any country. Therefore, it was decided to stay with Bergkrystall FK.

The greatest successes

One of the greatest successes is the promotion from the seventh to the sixth Norwegian league. The achievements also included winning the cup in the tournament in which all seven-league teams from the Hordaland district took part. At that time, the team trained under the supervision of Mateusz Rusin, who was acting as a coach.

Reshuffle in the squad and relegation to the 7th league

After Mateusz Rutin, the team was taken over by another playing coach - Marcin Biernat. After him, Tomasz Cisz, who is in the team to this day, but as the goalkeeping coach and second coach of the first team, took over. Currently, the team is headed by Sebastian Woźniak, who will soon start a coaching course organized by the Norwegian Football Association.

Bergkrystall FK is currently in the 7th league, but it is on its way to winning the promotion. He joins the Sunday game as the leader of the table, having only one defeat throughout the season.

Competitors

The line-up of Bergkrystall FK currently consists of 30 players, the vast majority of whom are Poles. One player from Latvia (who has mastered the ability to communicate in Polish very well) and two people from the Czech Republic have been in the team for a long time. In the current season, the team has also strengthened with a player from Ukraine and Portugal.

Open to other countries

In the original assumption, Bergkrystall FK was to consist only of Poles. It turned out that also other immigrants feel great in this team. As the founders emphasize - the team is created by immigrants and does not close to anyone. They will gladly accept anyone, regardless of their origin. The only condition is good play.

thanks

The originators and initiators of the Bergen soccer club would like to thank the many people who put their hearts into the development of Bergkrystall FK. They include successive presidents: Sebastian Samul and Mariusz Szmagara. You can always count on Tomasz Matyjaszczyk for legal matters and settlements. Financial support before the start of this season was provided by Agile Bemanning AS. The funds transferred were so high that they were enough to buy two sets of match kits and tracksuits.

Everyone can join ... Support as well

People thinking about joining the team and who would like to test their skills during training may feel invited. To do this, contact the trainer Sebastian Woźniak on the phone number: +4740311041. Currently, the players' fees are the main source of financing for the activities of Bergkrystall FK. Any sponsorship help is welcome - people who are interested in supporting the Polish team in Bergen are asked to contact the coach.

Support can also be provided through Norsktipping. Each player can choose which team he wants to support. All you need to do is log in to the website, click "Grasrotandalen", then enter the name "Bergkrystall FK" in the search engine and join.
