The Butler in Norway movie - distributor's description

The Butler is told with epic flourish, inspired by real events, the story of the tangled fate of Poles, Kashubians and Germans against the backdrop of the turbulent events of the first half of the XNUMXth century. Mateusz Krol (Sebastian Fabijański), a Kashubian boy, is taken in by the Prussian aristocrat Gerda von Krauss (Anna Radwan) after the death of his mother. He grows up in a palace. Mateusz's peer is the daughter of the von Krauss family, Marita (Marianna Zydek). Love is born between the young. The boy's godfather is the Kashubian patriot Bazyli Miotke (Janusz Gajos), who during the peace conference in Versailles fights for the place of Kashubia on the map of Poland, and then builds the symbol of its economic success: Gdynia. The Treaty of Versailles, which gave Poland independence, made the von Krausses lose their property and influence. All the heroes feel that the world they knew is about to change dramatically. Resentment and hatred are growing among Kashubians, Poles and Germans living side by side. World War II breaks out. In the forests of Piaśnica, the Nazis murder the Kashubian population - the first genocide of this war.
