Grilling has been a part of our homes for a long time. Currently, it is one of my favorite ways of spending free time. It is also an opportunity to meet friends and family and organize interesting discussions. However, in the era of fashion for leading a healthy lifestyle, a fundamental question arises - whether BBQ is it healthy?

Like us on Facebook you will always be up to date.

Grilling - two aspects

Before answering this question, there are two main points to consider. Namely - is grilling healthy as a way of cooking and what exactly do we put on the grate.

Health and grilling

There are more and more hypotheses that this way of cooking is the source of dangerous diseases, such as cancer. Scientists have yet to confirm them, but neither have they finally rejected them. The carcinogenicity of grilled dishes is the deposition of ash and harmful chemical compounds on the food on the grill. Harmful substances are also found in overly baked sausages and other meat products. Bearing in mind the above assumptions - grilling should be a pleasure that we reach for as rarely as refined sugar and salt.

How to grill without getting sick?

It is good practice to light the coal only naturally. It is necessary to wait until the appropriate heat is reached, without white ash on the coals. It is absolutely not advisable to add, for example, printed sheets of paper to the hearth while grilling, and not to pour any kindling of the already smoldering embers with any kindling. In addition, food preparation should be carried out using trays intended for this purpose. They limit the pouring of fat into the furnace, which emits harmful substances during combustion.

Is grilled food healthy?

Grilling itself is only one factor that determines its low health benefits. What you put on the grate is equally important. There are far too few vegetables on our plates, so it's worth adding them to our diet. They can be prepared over the fire, and you can also prepare delicious salads or salads. The calorific value of grilled dishes is also increased by sauces, which are readily used as an addition. For this reason, it is worth limiting the amount of ketchup, mayonnaise, mustard or horseradish consumed. You can replace these additives with, for example, garlic-yoghurt sauce.

Is it healthy?

Grilling is one of the favorite activities during the spring and summer season. This is due to excellent weather conditions, which are manifested by high temperatures and warm evenings. However, remember that you should ignite the coal naturally, and put the dishes on the grate only when the furnace is hot enough. It is also worth paying attention to what products are prepared on the rack. It is worth limiting the amount of red meat consumed, which can be replaced, for example, with poultry or fish. You should also increase the amount of prepared vegetables, and replace high-calorie sauces with e.g. yoghurt and garlic sauce. Thanks to the above tips, grilling will still be a pleasure that will not be so harmful to our body.
