In early October, elbil.no published an article about the nursery for drivers run by Gunhilde Bergan Karlengen. It is distinguished by the fact that it offers learning to drive electric cars based on compliance with the principles of the lowest possible exhaust emissions. Recently, the electric car driving search engine has been operating on the ATL.no portal.

Electric car driving school search engine

The Federation of Authorized Driver Training Centers decided to launch a search engine after journalists from the Elbil.no portal asked them to provide a register of centers offering Elbil driving lessons. The electric car driving search engine indicates those institutions that have at least one such vehicle in their fleet. Thanks to this, students can use the services of a company offering driving while adhering to the principles of the lowest possible exhaust emissions.

The database continues to grow

The electric car driving search engine has been operating for a short time. That is why Jan Harry Svendsen - an ATL employee - points out that the current database does not contain complete information. After journalists from Elbil.no turned to the organization, ATL immediately sent a request to its members to send information regarding the possession of elbila in its fleet. Therefore, Svendsen emphasizes that not all driver training centers have responded yet and the database is likely to be supplemented with new entities.

Will there be a domino effect?

Svendsen also emphasizes the fact that activities aimed at popularizing centers offering electric car driving lessons will have a far-reaching effect. In his opinion, this will increase the motivation of other centers to invest in elbile. As a consequence, the database on the ATL.no website will be systematically expanded.

Benefits for Training Centers

Svendsen is also convinced that the use of Elbil in driving lessons brings savings to training centers. The operation of such vehicles is cheaper because it does not require petrol or crude oil. Therefore, in his opinion, the share of companies offering driving lessons on electric vehicles will increase.

It is worth mentioning that the ATL database is not complete for another reason. It is worth citing the example of a training center in Åsane, near Bergen, which advertises itself as a "fully electrified driving school". This company is not a member of ATL at all, although it has only Elbiles in its fleet, and additionally offers an electric motorcycle course.

47 training centers

The search engine for driving lessons on electric cars allows us to estimate how many training centers currently have Elbil's. Currently (as of 17.10.2018/47/1000) it is 700 driving schools. It is worth mentioning that there are approx. XNUMX such entities in Norway, of which approx. XNUMX are ATL members.
