Ford is one of the automotive companies that cannot boast of being successful in the field of electric cars. The concern has been offering this type of vehicles for several years, but their sales were not high. Even in Norway. The company introduces new models to change this state of affairs.
Edison team
The newly formed Edison team is working on improving the technology of electric cars from Ford. The group itself has invested over NOK 92 billion in developing new concepts for electrical systems. The company's goal is to introduce 40 electric cars to its offer, 16 of which will be powered exclusively by such engines.

Model based on the Mustang line
The result of the development work will be the introduction of a fully electric car, the line of which will be based on the body of the latest Mustang. The range will be improved to 480 kilometers, according to the new WLTP combustion test guidelines. It will also be faster than the previous Ford ebiles. It is to be available on the market in 2020.
Make use of the Norwegian experience
According to Per Gunnar Berg in the press release, the new concept of Ford models will be based both on the experience from global markets and from the Norwegian market, which is currently the best developed in this respect. The Edison team therefore places great emphasis on both the range and maximum speed, while leaving the parameters of driving comfort for which the Ford concern is famous.

The current range of electric Fords
Currently, Ford offers two models of all-electric vehicles. Compact and well-equipped are Ford Electric, which can be purchased for PLN 100. Norwegian kroner for a used model from 2014. Their advantage is the fact that they are still under warranty and most cars are well equipped. The range, which in older models is 122 km, may prove problematic.
You can also buy a minivan - Ford Transit Connect at a similar price. On the used vehicle market, it can also be purchased for around 100. Norwegian kroner. Their biggest disadvantage, however, is the range - the car can cover only 90 kilometers.

Will Ford be successful?
More and more concerns rely on electric vehicles. The best technological solutions are used in Tesla models. Toyota reigns supreme in the hybrid vehicle segment, while the Nissan Leaf remains one of the most popular ebiles. Given the market trends, there is still a good time for other manufacturers to start seriously considering expansion towards vehicles with electric motors. This industry is still developing, and increased competition may contribute to lower prices, which is beneficial from the point of view of consumers.
