On Monday, Animal Rescue and the Animal Protection and Rescue Service received information about an extraordinary find ... On the Vistula River near Warsaw, a five-meter long moult of an exotic and extremely dangerous snake was discovered. The reptile is most likely smuggled or - less likely due to the lack of notification - escaped from the breeding farm.

Based on the examination of the traces that the animal left at the places where it slipped into the water and the skin it shed, it can be assumed that it is a female tiger python, 4 to 6 meters long. The Vistula natural circumstances and the summer weather make it a perfect place for reptiles to live. Peace and quiet, as well as the omnipresent humidity, favor hunting and lounging without being exposed to contact with larger predators.
He attacks from hiding
The snake attack is extremely fast and effective. A hungry python will usually wait underwater until it can sense a potential host nearby. Then it jumps out of the water, wraps itself around the victim and strangles it until it is done. Although snakes are most fond of birds, rodents and other small mammals, they can also be dangerous to humans.
He is hungry
The director of the Gdańsk zoo points out that the python, after shedding its exuviae, is certainly hungry. It can therefore pose a threat especially to unaware children playing by the river, as well as to pets. The Animal Protection and Rescue Service calls for caution, especially in the areas of the villages closest to where he lives (Gassy and Cieciszewo regions).
You should be particularly careful
If you come into contact with a python, you should refrain from panic, get out of the way and notify the relevant services. This Asian species of snake is especially sensitive to sudden movements and heat. While eating a human would be a huge energy expense for him, it is impossible to predict the behavior of a snake, which is certainly stressed and restless.
