Hungry children in schools - what is the situation?

The Labor Party is working to combat child poverty and hunger in schools. If the new program and its aims are realized, approximately 80.000 children in Oslo will receive free school meals.

I think this is a very good program. I hope it makes it easier for students to learn. I am also convinced that the program improves the well-being of students who prepare and eat meals together, and thus spend time well together. Our students come from different backgrounds, nationalities, religion and culture. They also often differ to a large extent in terms of their financial status. That is why having a meal together is such an important thing. "- emphasizes in an interview with Nattevisen Stanberg, director of one of the largest schools in Oslo.

The pilot program has very good results. Originators emphasize its advantages.

Majorstuen School has been participating in the Free Student Meals Pilot Program for some time. We would like to introduce a free school meal for all students in grades 1-12 in Oslo within the next four years. Which means that 80.000 students would be covered by the program. When fully implemented, it will cost around CZK 300 million per year. The motivation of our actions is the good of students, because thanks to free meals they will be better prepared for learning.
