Transferring the unemployment benefit to Poland

Did you know that if you are entitled to unemployment benefit in Norway, you are also entitled to transfer the unemployment benefit to Poland? This gives us a chance to return to Poland and start looking for a job, while maintaining the same amount of unemployment benefit as we were granted in Norway. You only need to meet the following conditions:

-the length of the benefit received in Norway must be at least 4 weeks
-the completed PD U2 application should be sent to NAV in good time (4 weeks before planned trip)
-with a document issued by NAV, you must appear at the Provincial Labor Office in Poland within 7 days of arrival and register as an unemployed person
- still, every 14 days, you must send registration cards, the so-called meldekort to NAV
-continue the recommendations that have been assigned to us in the activity plan (din aktivitetsplan)

The Voivodship Labor Office will send a notification to NAV about the registration. The most important thing is to observe all the deadlines that are given and remember to send the registration cards.

In case you don't we will find a job in Poland, or we decide to move, it is possible to return to Norway and continue looking for a job and receiving benefits. Of course, if we still have the right to it. To maintain financial continuity, you should return to Norway within 3 months. After arrival, you must go to your local NAV and report your arrival so that the employee will note your presence. Additionally, we send NAV an application for renewal of unemployment benefits (Søknad om gjenopptak av dagpenger). It is worth attaching a plane or ferry ticket to your application, confirming your arrival.

If you return to Norway later than 3 months, we have the option to apply for the renewal of unemployment benefits within 52 weeks of the last payment of the benefit.

If you have your own experiences on this topic, please do not hesitate to contact us. We will publish real-life situations.
Transferring unemployment benefit:

Anna Grobarczyk: There is some inaccuracy here regarding the PD U2 printing. I have the information confirmed because we just went through it. The application for PD U2 can be sent electronically even a few days before departure (I sent it a week before). The document was sent after 20 p.m. on a given day, and at 12 p.m. the next day we received permission to leave - a pure formality. There is an option to indicate in the application that it should be sent to our Polish address, so we can leave Norway without this PD U2 document and simply it will be delivered to us by post (if we indicate the Polish address for receiving the document in the application). The document contains the date by which you must appear at the Labor Office and the matter is over : )

editor: Anita described her example, but it is known that all applications are considered individually. The described topic complies with the applicable regulations, but life, as you can see, shows different interpretations. However, we advise you to react earlier. Thank you for the information
