As we read on the website of the Stavanger municipality, the annual meeting of the World Energy Cities Partnership (WEPC) is taking place in Perth, Australia. There it was decided that next year's meeting would be held in Stavanger.
Stavanger was one of the founders
The World Energy Cities Partnership is a global association of capital cities energy. The organization brings together recognized energy cities from all continents to promote sustainable energy production.
Stavanger was one of the founders in 1995. In 1995, Aberdeen, Houston, Perth, Stavanger and Vung Tau signed the first cooperation agreement, and Leif Johan Sevland became the first president of WECP. Former mayor of Stavanger Christine Sagen Helgø was president of the association from 2013 to 2015.
Stavanger hosted the WECP annual meeting in 1996. The meeting took place at the same time as ONS. Stavanger was also the host in 2002 and 2014. It is now known that Stavanger will host in 2024 - in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of the ONS.

I can't wait to show you all the exciting things to come are happening in energy field in the Stavanger region, says Mayor Sissel Knutsen Hegdal, who spent last week at the annual meeting in Perth.

At this year's commune and city meeting in the Netherlands, Groningen was accepted as a member of the association.
– Stavanger has worked with Esbjerg and Aberdeen to achieve cooperation in skills and education and we are pleased that Groningen will also be part of this, says business manager Anne Woie in Stavanger commune.
