Oil field in the North Sea. Equinor discovered a gas and oil field near the Farm field in the North Sea. This deposit is located about 120 kilometers north-west from Bergen. This is a real discovery that will certainly have a positive impact, for example, on the financial situation of the Norwegian economy.
How large is the discovered oil and gas field near the North Sea?
According to preliminary calculations, the size of the gas and oil field discovered by Equinor is estimated at around 16 million standard cubic meters. However, the deposit may be smaller - its minimum size is approximately 6 million standard cubic meters. Nevertheless - regardless of its final size, it is close to 100 million barrels of crude oil that Norway can have at its disposal. Oil field in the North Sea. One of the greatest discoveries of this year!
We made one of the biggest discoveries this year in the most mature area on the Norwegian continental shelf, near the Troll Field. This shows what opportunities still exist for value and revenue creation in the oil and gas industry - says Nick Ashton, director of exploration for the Norwegian and British shelves at Equinor. There is no need to hide: the discovery of such a large oil field cannot go unnoticed. Moreover, if appropriate steps are taken, this deposit will not only pose no threat to the nearby areas, but also - which is very important - will have a positive effect on the economic situation of Norway.
