Since 2010, Norway has been the leader when it comes to selling passenger cars. However, this situation has changed. According to the latest data, a new leader has emerged in the car sales market. Norway was slightly ahead of Germany. The difference, however, is very slight, and it is by no means certain that this will be a permanent state of affairs.

Electric cars are very popular in Norway. This is where Norway has the fewest cars in Europe powered by petrol or diesel. Data for 2019 showed that in Norway the number of cars powered by diesel or gasoline is 2,5 million. What's more, this number is constantly decreasing. There is nothing to hide, v Records are broken every year in Norwaywhen it comes to selling electronic cars. This does not mean, however, that Norway is unbeatable as the elbili sales leader. The latest data shows very clearly that it can be defeated in this competition. This is to be done by Germany. However, the result is not yet certain.

Losing the leadership position is not so terrible

Although the latest data clearly indicate that Norway will lose its leading position for almost 10 years, this is not a reason to worry. Thanks to Norway's leadership in elbili sales, this trend spread to other countries. Currently, buying elbili is becoming more and more popular around the world and in Europe. According to environmental experts, this is a good trend. Electric cars do not emit substances harmful to the environment. Thus, by purchasing electric cars, we contribute to improving air quality. This is largely thanks to Norway. The fact that Germany will most likely deprive Norway of the position of elbili sales leader is actually good news. It shows that countries' awareness is increasing and they pay more attention to caring for the quality of the environment.
