On September 9, the government changed immigration laws. The amendment to the regulations will make it easier for entrepreneurs and other self-employed people outside the EEA to live and run a business in Norway.

The government changed immigration laws to make it easier for foreign talent and entrepreneurs from around the world to settle here

- We need more entrepreneurs who have good ideas and have the courage to put them into practice. That's why the government changed immigration laws. - Says Minister of Trade and Industry Iselin Nybø.

For applicants, the changes to the Immigration Regulations simplify the application process

Foreigners from non-EEA countries who come to Norway must still be able to support themselves. In addition, there must be a financial base for business in Norway. For applicants, changes to the Immigration Regulations simplify the application process, including:

  • The requirement for municipalities to report financial grounds for a company or business activity has now been removed from the application process.
  • If the applicant receives financial support from public bodies in Norway such as Innovation Norway, this must be taken into account when examining the application for residence.

It's easier to come to Norway now

The Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs (ASD) have worked together to amend immigration laws. Changes have been made to parts of the Immigration Regulations that fall under the responsibility of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.
