Did you get a job in Norway? Are you going to Scandinavia for work purposes? Registering your stay in Norway is a basic formality that you must remember when crossing the threshold of this country. We tell you how to go about it!

Registration of stay in Norway - the first step in the new Norwegian life ...

Do you want to work in Norway? Will you be staying here for more than 3 months? You absolutely need to register. Obtain a residence permit at the Office for Foreigners, i.e. UDI. You can fill in the basic data necessary for registration on the UDI website (https://www.udi.no/). Do it as fast as you can. Now the deadlines are not very long, but it takes a while. For the meeting during which you make a reservation, you must have a complete set of necessary documents with you, including:

  • identity document (ID card / passport),
  • employment contract / employment confirmation.

In fact, the package of documents required for registration strictly depends on the purpose for which we are staying in Norway. Most of us, however, come here for financial reasons.

Family reunification - when do you want to bring your loved ones to Norway?

The registration of your stay in Norway looks a bit different if you have been working here for some time and want to bring your spouse, children… in short - your family. You can apply for a residence permit for:

  • your spouse or fiancée (the person you want to marry in the next 6 months),
  • child / grandchild / great-grandchild (up to 21 years of age).

Family Reunification - What Documents Are Needed?

In the process of combining families in Norway the necessary documents are:

  • an identity document (a passport is welcome here),
  • documentation confirming the degree of kinship (in the case of a child, it may be a birth certificate or, in the case of a spouse, a marriage certificate),
  • a document confirming the employment status of the applicant (employment contract, salary slip, etc.),
  • apostille.

Remember that every document that we show in Norwegian offices must be translated into Norwegian.
