The Minister of Health, Bent Høie, encourages municipalities to randomly check the results of compulsory tests. Those who breach this obligation face a fine of 20 kronor.
On Monday afternoon, the chairman of Oslo City Council, Raymond Johansen, alerted about the chaos surrounding the mandatory testing operation. This is because more than 6200 people who came to Gardermoen from abroad have dropped out of the airport tests.
Health Minister Bent Høie says people who object to mandatory testing risk a fine of 20 kronor.
- The individual traveler is required to check himself / herself within 24 hours after arriving in Norway at the border or in the municipality where he / she will be quarantined. If you don't run the tests, you risk a fine of 20 kronor, says Høie do.
- The mandatory testing system could be improved. But the alternative was to wait with the mandatory tests, and I don't think anyone would have thought that would be a good idea.
Strict requirements
There are strict requirements for people coming to Norway from the red countries. They must present a negative COVID-19 test certificate in the last 72 hours prior to arrival, must register the name, contact details, location quarantine and employer and must perform tests at border crossing points or in the municipality of residence within 24 hours of arrival.
However, data from the municipality of Ullensaker shows that almost half of those who came to Gardermoen from abroad between January 2 and 7 did not choose to be tested at the airport. Including a total of 6256 people.
- Everyone is now very concerned about the 6200 people who did not test in Gardermoen after arriving in Norway. Fortunately, the percentage of people who did not test at the airport has dropped sharply in recent days. Thus, the municipality of Ullensaker has done considerable work to facilitate the testing at the airport. I think in the end we will probably see that 90 to 100 percent of those who come to Gardermoen from abroad will be tested at the airport, as it is done at other airports in Norway, says Health Minister Høie.
Testing at Gardermoen
A total of 14 travelers came to Gardermoen from abroad between January 826 and 2. Only 7 people chose to undergo the study, and 8570 cases of infection were registered among them.
- January 2: 2444 passengers, 1420 people tested.

Oslo alert
The returns led to queues and congestion at border crossings. Therefore, the Norwegian Directorate of Health has now asked the relevant municipalities to explain to the police and medical staff at border crossing points. That "if there are congestion, it is better for people to leave this area and go home to their commune to be examined there." Guldvog stated.
On Friday, January 8, the municipality of Oslo had had enough and sent the government a report of concern. Among other things, they wrote in the report. "They are concerned that loopholes remain in the legislation, which could entail a significant risk of contamination."
