Due to stricter entry regulations, which entered into force on Friday, January 29 at midnight, the Eastern Police District decided to physically close another fifth border crossing with Sweden. The crossing that has been closed is the FV 126 Trosterud road in the municipality of Aurskog-Høland.
Important investments in the police. More to the police in the regions
The police received an additional 578 million kronor this year. This will be used to strengthen the districts, both by continuing the mission on the Norwegian border due to Covid-19, and directly to strengthen individual operational units in the country. This investment will help to maintain the target set by the government.
More trust in the police
In a police survey in 2020, residents of larger municipalities replied that they trust the police more than residents of smaller municipalities. Inhabitants of larger municipalities also rate the police higher when it comes to their belief that the police arrive quickly on the scene when they need emergency help.
We remind you that the following transitions were physically closed on January 22:
FV 102 Berbyveien road in the municipality of Halden (closed on January 22)
FV 220 Enningdalsveien / Holtet, Municipality of Halden (closed on January 22)
road FV 1312 Vengsveien (Buer), Marker kommune (closed on January 22)
Rørvikveien, Marker commune (private road) (closed on January 22)
There are only three approved border crossings in the Eastern Police District:
New Svinesund (E6)
Orje (E18)
Bjørkebekk (FV106) (only open from 08am to 15.30pm)
The other border crossings are not approved and therefore illegal to use.
More patrols along the border
Police are closing border crossings to increase their patrolling capabilities and prevent the spread of coronavirus infections. The police will patrol and carry out checks along the border around the clock, so the risk of detecting an illegal crossing will be high.
High fines for illegal driving
Illegal border crossing is subject to a fine of up to NOK 10. Higher fines may be imposed in the event of repeated infringements or particularly aggravating circumstances.
