Ringnes has been notified of two cases where the six pack was labeled non-alcoholic beer but it contained 4,5% alcohol.
- Two independent stores reported that a carton containing 6 beer is labeled non-alcoholic. It turned out to be Calsberg Pilsner, which contains 4,5% of alcohol, says Nicolay Bruusgaard's communications manager at Ringnes.Ringnes himself posted a press release apologizing for the error and saying that an internal investigation has been conducted to see if there are more such cases.
- We did a little research internally and there are many indications that it is most likely only a few pieces. But we can't take any chances, says Bruusgard.
The beers were shipped to stores on March 3. Ringnes is now addressing all consumers who have purchased Carlsberg Alcohol Free last week to check that the bottles are actually labeled non-alcoholic.
The non-alcoholic variant is clearly labeled Carlsberg Alcohol Free. The non-alcoholic variant has a white cap, while the alcohol-free beer cap is green.
- We are glad that it was discovered early. Now we are starting to act. When it comes to legible labeling of our packaging, we have to be precise.
