Competition in the mobile services market means low prices and greater choice
Nkom's analyzes show that Telenor continues to hold a special position in the market Norwegian market . As the largest player, it is also characterized by very good profitability and customer loyalty. Telenor is therefore forced to take on a number of obligations that will increase competition over the next three years. The goal is for the market to function well in the future without regulation.
Three mobile networks are needed
– To ensure competition on the market, three are needed mobile networks, which fight for end users and at the same time provide competitive conditions for players who do not have their own network. Choice and competition are important in the long run. That's why we need both small and large operators who can provide consumers and business customers with good and affordable services, says Kamilla Sharma, division director at Nkom.
The expansion of the Lyse Tele (Ice) mobile network is already at an advanced stage, but development in the most demanding areas continues.

– To ensure competition, Nkom has therefore decided that challengers without their own national mobile network will be given the right to lease the mobile network from Telenor for a new period of a maximum of three years.
The regulation also obliges Telenor to lease its masts to other network owners under regulated conditions.
– This is one of key assurance responsibilities effective development of the mobile network in Norway, while ensuring that the colocation of equipment will be beneficial from the point of view of the industry's environmental footprint, says Kamilla Sharma.
He goes on to say that the industry is currently undergoing change as a result of the separation of masts and other infrastructure into separate tower companies. Nkom follows this development and places a strong emphasis on the fact that colocation must work effectively even without government intervention. Companies building masts must therefore build in such a way that there is room for several tenants on the same mast, he continues.
The EFTA countries' monitoring body, ESA, recently agreed to carry out a new period of market regulation in Norway.
