An order to investigate the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic on the cultural sector

On February 1, 2021, the Norwegian Cultural Affairs Council and the Norwegian Film Institute were commissioned to investigate the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic on the cultural sector so far. The study is also intended to answer the question of what tools we need to contribute to its reconstruction.

They planned to divide the task into two parts

Norwegian Council Culture and the Norwegian Film Institute, in consultation with the Ministry of Culture, have now defined their approach to this task. They planned to divide the task into two parts: an analysis of the state and conditions of the sector before and during the pandemic and an assessment of reconstruction instruments and methods.

The pandemic has left its mark on the cultural sector

The fact is that the pandemic has left deep marks in the cultural sector that will not disappear. Even if strict infection control measures come to an end. As a result of other government-initiated work, the task has therefore been aligned with the activities and instruments of rehabilitation of the cultural sector after the pandemic. The cultural sector and other relevant actors will be invited to dialogue and contribute at different stages of the process. The sector involvement plan must be available by March 25.

All works will be completed in December 2021

The Ministry of Culture allocates CZK 4 million to acquire the knowledge necessary to complete the task. The analytical work plan will be available on April 15. The first part of the report will be delivered to the Ministry of Culture before summer, while all works will be completed in December 2021.
