The government is allocating an additional NOK 750 million to municipalities, which will compensate companies particularly affected by infection control measures. Now the transfer of money to municipalities is ready.
"The municipalities continue to distribute the money," says Minister Linda Hofstad Helleland, and believes it is important that municipalities transfer money quickly to companies that are having difficulties.

The restrictions have severely hit many offering companies accommodation services and gastronomic

Many companies are completely dependent on income during the winter to be able to keep your head above the surface. The coronavirus pandemic situation has forced serious restrictions on Easter trips this year as well. Moreover, the restrictions severely affected many companies offering accommodation and catering services in cities.

“The government will help secure these important jobs in the hotel and catering industry

- The needs of companies change over time. In the first round, we divided the funds according to the number of inhabitants and communes with unemployment higher than the national average. In this round, we are additionally tightening the allocation to communes with a high employment rate in the hospitality industry and gastronomic. In many municipalities this is the backbone of the local business community and the government will help secure these important jobs, says Minister Linda Hofstad Helleland.

It is the municipalities who know who needs it most and can meet those who are not also covered by other programs

- Throughout the year, the hospitality industry tried very hard to keep the wheels spinning. It is a demanding exercise to adapt to the development of infection, and for many it comes with unpredictable costs. These are industries that already operate with small margins. Therefore, we are tightening the allocation in this round to municipalities that employ many employees in accommodation and catering services. It is the municipalities who know who needs it most and can meet those who are not also covered by other programs. I hope they get the money quickly, says Trade and Industry Minister Iselin Nybø.
