Two people were stabbed at the Nav office in Bergen on Monday morning. Two women were taken to hospital. Their health condition is currently unknown. The perpetrator is a 39-year-old man.

The police received a report of the knife assault in Nav Årstad on 10.02/XNUMX and were there shortly after. The perpetrator has been arrested, the Western Police District states in a press release.

Two people who were injured were taken to Haukeland University Hospital. Their health status is unknown.

- A tragic accident, says Torbjørn Røe Isaksen (H).

- Our thoughts go first and foremost to the victims' families and collaborators. Both Nav and the municipality are now doing their best to deal with the casualties, continues the Minister for Labor and Social Affairs.

The Naw office is currently closed and the police are working to secure the scene.

Police lawyer Arne Fjellstad in Felles told Bergensavisen at 11:00 that the operational work had not yet been completed on site.

It is unclear whether the attack was aimed at specific individuals

Synnøve Malkenes from the Western Police District tells NRK that the stab happened on the second or third floor of the Nav Building.

- There were many witnesses to the incident.

- It looks like a serious incident. The work of the services is on-going, both operational, forensic and investigative, says Fjellstad.

He does not comment on whether the perpetrator is also injured.

There were several emergency services units outside the Nav office on Monday morning. According to BA, there were at least 15 ambulances, police cars and fire trucks on the scene.
