Since January 2021, the Eastern Police District has been conducting an independent investigation to determine whether the landslide was caused by human or other factors. Are there grounds for criminal liability?

Will the committee's findings be relevant to the ongoing investigation?

The report for the government-appointed commission will be relevant to the further work of the police and we will now look at it closely to see, inter alia, whether the commission's findings will be relevant to the ongoing police investigation.

A separate investigative group has been set up with lawyers and investigators with experience in environmental matters. The group was associated with geotechnical expertise and external professional environments. We also received help from Økokrim in the work. During the investigation, a large number of interrogations were conducted and over 50 documents were obtained, incl. from the municipality of Gjerdrum and others.

. It is too early for police to comment on whether charges will be laid

It is too early for the police to comment on whether charges will be brought. Too early to respond or react in any other way to the circumstances of the incident that the commission's report may describe, or to what the police's own investigation has revealed. We assume that we will be able to answer this question by the end of the year.

Current legislation includes the Planning and Construction Act, the Penal Code, the Civil Accidents Act and the Natural Damage Act.
