Bø in Vesterålen is taking new steps to make life more attractive there. The municipal council proposes to grant you SEK 50 for each newborn child and a free place in kindergarten.
- At the December budget meeting, we will propose to stimulate more births in Bø. 50 for a newborn baby and a year's free place in kindergarten, Mayor Sture Pedersen (H) said when opening the city council on Tuesday.
If the proposal was accepted, you could then receive an additional NOK 50 for the second and third child. In addition to a three-year and six-year free place in kindergarten, respectively.
- Some will probably ask if we have enough places in kindergarten in the commune. I would say if it could contribute to relocation and an increase in the number of children. The solution then must be to create more preschools, said Mayor Bø.
The commune earlier lowered the municipal property tax. This led several wealthy investors, including Bjørn Dæhlie and Rikard Storvestre, to move. This met with harsh criticism, among others from the Labor Party.
- I emphasize that the subsidy can only be adopted in December, but since we received criticism that the decision to reduce the wealth tax was made on the basis of a proposal at the budget meeting, we decide to present this idea now.
