It's a bit sad that I leave the prime minister's office to someone else, said Erna Solberg, handing the key to the prime minister Jonas Gahr Støre.

- The Prime Minister's Office is a fantastic place where fantastic officials work. Well trained to meet politicians with different ideas and thoughts, said Solberg.

She also said that Støre has a lot to offer as Prime Minister and that it is also an important position in difficult times.

- I don't know if you have more hair that can turn gray, but you will probably also go through demanding and hard days. It is also a nice place to rest, said outgoing Prime Minister Solberg.

She handed the new prime minister flowers and an access card.

I am handing over the country in good shape and we were in a very difficult situation during the pandemic. This is a country where it is a privilege to be prime minister, she said.

Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre (Labor) has a lot to do, work starts from day one in a new position.

On Thursday afternoon, Støre met the press at his new office in central Oslo and said the state budget was high on the agenda.

- This is the first task and there is a lot of politics there. People should see that their turn has come, says the newly appointed prime minister.
