Man shot by police in Bislett, Oslo

The man, who was shot dead by Bislett police on Tuesday morning, had attempted to attack several people earlier, according to police chief Torgeir Brenden.

Oslo police confirm that they shot at Bislett Oslo and that there was a confrontation. According to Nettavisen, the police shot the man.

One of the Nettavisen journalists claims to have witnessed the incident. The journalist describes the dramatic sequence of events when the police tried to control a man with a knife in his hand who was running after the woman.

According to Nettavisen, the man was shot dead by the police.

Oslo police confirms NTB that they fired the shots and that the attacker was hit. The severity of the sustained injuries is unknown.

Police inform that just before 9 o'clock it was notified of the incident near Thereses gate on Bislett. Soon a police patrol appeared on the scene.

- At this point there is a confrontation and a dangerous situation in which shots are fired - informs NTB operational manager Tore Solberg.

- One person was rammed with a car and then shots were fired. The attacker is taken to the hospital. We will provide a fuller statement later, says the operations manager.

The police are looking for several potentially injured or injured people in Bislett

- Minister of Justice and Crisis Management Emilie Enger Mehl has been informed about the incident in Bislett Oslo and is following the situation, the ministry writes on Twitter.

The Special Unit for Police was also notified about the incident.
