The government changes the interval between the second dose and the refresher dose from six months to five months for everyone over 45 years of age.

The same applies to adults with serious illnesses and health and care workers, the government said in a press release.

- We have a growing pressure on infections in society, which means that more and more people may become seriously ill. There is also enormous pressure on the healthcare system. Therefore, the National Institute of Public Health recommends shorter intervals between doses, even up to 5 months, if there are possibilities in the municipalities. The government is following this recommendation. This will provide the individual with better protection and will be able to reduce the pressure on the health service. This is Ingvild Kjerkol, the Minister of Health and Welfare.

The background for the National Institute of Public Health's recommendation for shorter intervals is the increased pressure of infection in society and thus the increased risk of serious illness in more people.
