, this was the topic of yesterday's media meeting with the Minister of Labor and Integration, Hadia Tajik. The meeting was organized by Caritas Norge.

Vaccine situation in Norway

Caritas Norge begins the meeting with the words that their task is to ensure that as many immigrants as possible are at work and that this work is the best for them. However, we must remember that the pandemic is still here and it makes our everyday life difficult.

Caritas is a charity, so their task is to help people and society. They manage to do this and convey their ideas through the media of minority groups such as, for example Radio Wataha.

Hadia Tajik, the new minister for labor and integration, announced at the conference that native Norwegians had a vaccination rate of almost 90%. However, for people born in Norway who are born abroad, this figure is only 68%. Additionally, two weeks ago, statistics showed that 2% of those who are hospitalized with COVID-30 are immigrants who are not vaccinated.

The minister goes on to say that we should get vaccinated for the sake of our family, friends and other relatives. We should take care of our safety and health, as well as of others. It is thanks to vaccinations that our society can function normally, it is easier for us to work and live.

Hadia Tajik believes that Caritas is doing a very good job of reaching out to immigrants with information on how to get vaccinated and what vaccines are. The government has now earmarked NOK 20 million for charities so that they can do even more of the excellent work they are already doing. It is worth noting that this amount is only for half a year, so charities received 40 million crowns throughout the year. The current government wants to do everything to get as many immigrants vaccinated as possible.

Radio Wataha wanted to point out that when it comes to Poles, many of us still have a d-number, which prevents us from receiving a vaccination certificate, so we vaccinate in Poland. However, we have no way to register it later, so the statistics are incorrect.

Hadia Tajik points out that most of the immigrants who come here to work are not vaccinated. He believes this is because information about where and how they can get vaccinated has not reached them. The government believes that providing information by charities is one of the best solutions to reach as many people as possible. That is why they want to donate money to a charity and support them in the activities they carry out.

It is also important for the government that people who cannot go to work due to the new restrictions still have a steady income of money. This is why there are new rules on unemployment benefits. Your unemployment benefit has been extended and more people are entitled to it than before.

Hadia Tajik points out that there are many reasons why immigrants do not want to vaccinate. This could be due to a lack of knowledge, anxiety about the vaccine, or the side effects that may follow. The Norwegian government would like to inform all those who need it so that they would like to get vaccinated.

Hadia Tajik's words to Poles in Norway

Hadia Tajik ends the conference with these words, addressed directly to Poles:

"Poles in Norway this is a very important part of people working in our country. We are completely dependent on the work you do. We hope that you are safe at work and healthy in these difficult times. Statistics show that many of you are not vaccinated. For your own health and the health of your family and loved ones, please take the vaccine.”
