The government allocates NOK 100 million to universities, colleges and vocational schools and NOK 40 million to student organizations.

Educational institutions should use the funds to provide students with additional academic support and to prevent them from being delayed or dropped out of school as a result of a pandemic.

Millions for student organizations will be allocated to social and psychosocial activities for students.

- The pandemic will not go away, there will be more digital learning and fewer opportunities to socialize. We know this is very demanding for students. That is why we have put forward proposals that allow universities, colleges, vocational colleges and organizations to have more money to initiate or extend additional funds to help students both in the academic and social dimension, says Research and Higher Education Minister Ola Borten Moe (Sp. ).

The government will allocate the money as soon as the Storting accepts the package.

Borten Moe says the government will consider new measures if the tightening lasts longer than expected and if there are further tightening.

"We will also assess whether there is a need for extraordinary measures for students who have lost their part-time jobs," says Ola Borten Moe.
