The fiber optic cable has been laid using the Cable Ship Normand Clipper and now the installation and all tests of the system have been completed.

- This new high-speed cable will significantly enhance data communication to and from Norway. It will improve while improving the security of supply, says CEO Geir Ims at NO-UK COM.

Behind the NO-UK project are Lyse, Green Mountain, Haugaland Kraft, BKK, Hatteland Group and Ryfylke IKS.

A fiber optic cable consists of eight pairs of optical fibers in total and has a capacity of 260 Terrabits per second. The cable runs from the Green Mountain data center in Rennesøy to Newcastle. Altibox will be operationally responsible.

- Last year, Altibox established a submarine fiber optic connection between Norway and Denmark. Now we have tied Norway and England. This will complement the existing European circle of optical fibers and ensure a clear improvement in conditions for Norwegian consumers. New fiber optic cables abroad not only strengthen our own security of supply. They are certainly also positioning Norway as a secure data center with a solid, first-class digital infrastructure, says Toril Nag, Lyse Executive Vice President Telecommunications and Altibox CEO.
