It's so easy to get a fake Polish coronavirus test.
It took NRK two hours and it cost 350 kronor to get a negative coronavirus test that can be used to get to Norway. You had to pay for the test in bitcoin in Poland. - We are aware of the problem - says Deputy Health Director Espen Rostrup Nakstad
To enter Norway, you must show proof that you have passed the negative test. There are no requirements as to what this documentation should look like.
NRK obtained fake tests in Poland with the help of an independent journalist.
NRK bought tests, but did not use them to enter Norway or otherwise present them as evidence.
Photoshop also works in bad faith
An NRK reporter in Poland asked on his Facebook page if anyone had a test to send. She got four. On the Internet, he found advice on how to do this: That you should use original certificates from large reputable laboratories or hospitals with a stamp, because documents from small local doctors or clinics may look suspicious at the airport.
"We heard from the airports that this was a problem," says assistant director of health, Espen Nakstad.
The most common fake is Photoshop redoing one real test performed by another person. Then you do Photoshop with a different name and the dates you want.
A real test in Poland costs approximately CZK 1000. Fake approx. 350 kr. And you don't have to go to a clinic in the city center and wait 24 hours. Until recently, the test was required to take place 72 hours before departure. Norwegian government changed this up to 24 hours before departure.
. Nakstad: – I'm not surprised
NRK showed false certificates to the assistant director of health, Espen Rostrup Nakstad. He is not surprised.
- It is difficult to document whether such documents are authentic or not. Nevertheless, it is important to have such a requirement as we believe it has a preventive effect and that there are certainly many who are following the rules and obeying, says Nakstad.
- Performing these tests is important as many infection tracking activities are often performed, for example with infected people on an airplane. Therefore, preventing people from traveling with multiple infections in their body is very important in itself, says Nakstad.
Nakstad believes that this requirement contributes to our getting fewer imported infections than we would otherwise get.

Police: This is very difficult to spot
The principle of showing a certificate that you do not have COVID-19 also applied last year. Back then, there were no compulsory tests at the border. But since Monday, mandatory tests have been introduced at the border for people who have been in the quarantine area. It was also announced on Saturday that the testing time before arriving in Norway will be tightened to 24 hours.
Police and medical staff at Norwegian border crossing points are aware of the problem with possible false documents that you do not have the coronavirus. It is very difficult to reveal whether the documents are authentic or not.
"But we have our methods to judge it." For example, if there are three in a row at entry checks and each has a certificate from the same doctor, we become suspicious, says the head of the research station at Torp Inger Amundsen to NRK.
The Norwegian Police Directorate says that around 10 false certificates have been discovered so far at Norwegian border crossing points.
30 days' imprisonment for a false test
In Norway, only one person has been convicted so far. A Romanian citizen tried to enter Norway with a false test before Christmas. The police were able to find out because the certificate says that the test was done in a city in Romania at the time. Four hours later, he arrives at the Norwegian border with a certificate in hand. The politician tells NRK that in theory you can travel that fast, "but then you need a fighter plane." The man confessed to buying a fake test and was convicted in Oslo District Court for false testimony and was sentenced to thirty days in prison.
