Norway's largest network company, Elvia, estimates that it will cost one billion crowns to provide support to each of their customers.

The average Elvia customer will receive a "discount" of NOK 1205 due to the enormous electricity costs in December.

The support covers part of the energy consumption up to 5000 kilowatt hours per month. Elvia and other network companies in the country were commissioned to calculate how much support an individual client would receive in December, January, February and March.

Network companies pass this information on to all energy companies in their area. They write the amount on a separate line on the invoice that is due in January. The amount to which the customer is entitled is automatically deducted.

The people of Oslo Viken and Innlandet receive a billion in support for electricity

According to calculations, consumption of 5000 kilowatt hours per month provides support of NOK 3683, while those who consume up to 220 kilowatt hours receive only NOK 162 of support.

Support is measured by consumption, not by bill. This means that people with expensive contracts receive the same support as people with cheaper contracts.
