The Ministry of Labor and Social Inclusion has issued a regulation introducing a new support system for children who need glasses. The program begins on August 1, 2022. It is valid until the child turns 18 years of age, and is in addition to two other programs for children's glasses.
- This glasses support program will help children and families who need it to get good glasses, says Employment and Integration Minister Marte Mjøs Persen.
The new program gives children who dropped out of the therapeutic glasses program in 2020 a new right to support for glasses. These are the glasses you need to prevent or treat amblyopia. In addition, it entitles significantly more children to support glasses than the previous program. Thanks to this proposal, approximately 140 children will be eligible for glasses support, in addition to glasses under existing support programs.

At the end of May, an installation design proposal was submitted for consultation. In the light of the consultations, a system will be introduced, thanks to which NAV will be able to make direct settlements with opticians. In addition, the program also includes reading glasses. In addition, the funding rates have been increased for children who need the strongest spectacle lenses.
