Østfold Hospital has had a large influx of patients for several weeks. On Monday morning, the hospital had 50 more patients than regular beds. 24 patients with flu and 28 people with covid-19 have been registered. The large number of patients who require isolation due to infectious diseases such as influenza or covid-19 now require new measures. At the same time, there is a high rate of sickness absence among hospital employees.

Emergency measures must now be put in place that indicate the hospital is on green alert, says managing director Hege Gjessing.
This means, first of all, that the hospital has more beds for patients requiring immediate assistance and obtains funds for this from the planned activities.
– This may mean that patients who have an appointment, e.g. a check-up, may have such an appointment postponed. If you have a hospital appointment, you can come as usual, unless otherwise instructed by us, says Gjessing.

Visiting Restrictions

The hospital believes it must keep ward visits to a minimum when under pressure.
– We have a lot of patients who have to lie in the corridors, and there is a lot of infection in the community. With fewer visits, we will reduce the risk of infection in the hospital, says Gjessing.
Visits must be arranged in advance with the relevant XNUMX-hour zone. We would like to remind you that all visitors to the hospital with symptoms of respiratory infection must wear a mask. Information about visits and contact details for XNUMX-hour zones .
