Social assistance from NAV - what kind and in what situation?

Everyone has the right to apply for financial social assistance and to individually assess the application for such support.

When all other sources of income are exhausted but not enough, you may be entitled to social assistance. Other sources of income may include paid work, own financial resources and other financial rights.

Are you in a crisis situation? Crisis assistance is intended to cover absolutely necessary expenses for a short period of time. Examples include money for food, hygiene items and travel expenses.

You can also apply for support with bills you need to pay to prevent essential services such as electricity or similar from being turned off.

If you need help in a crisis situation, use the application form for social assistance.

What should be done in a crisis situation? If you are unable to get money for the most important needs, you can apply for social assistance in your commune.

If you don't have a place to sleep and stay for the next 24 hours, you can also apply for help finding temporary shelter. In the event of an emergency, contact the NAV office in your municipality immediately. You can also call 55 55 33 33 to talk about your situation.
