For the second time in history, electricity prices will be negative all day in Norway's price zones.

In both Oslo (price area N01 in Eastern Norway) and Bergen (price area N05 in Western Norway), electricity prices will be below zero krona on Monday, excluding network rent, taxes and other charges. Throughout the day, the spot price ranges from zero to minus 3 øre/kWh.

According to the trade newspaper, for the second time in history in the areas pricing in Norway prices are negative all day long.

The first time was on Tuesday, August 8, after Hans's extreme weather.

Even if prices are negative, producers have previously made it clear that it is better to produce than to stop production altogether.

Big price differences

In Kristiansand, the average price was 94 øre/kWh. The difference between Oslo and Bergen is therefore almost a crown. Norway Food Price Test

At the beginning of the week Storting representative Terje Halleland (Frp) demanded that the government take action to counter price differences.

Halleland postulated, among other things, o reducing the requirements for safety margins in the network.

Executive director Gunnar Løvås at Statnett does not rule out that measures can be taken to make better use of the network.

– Such current measures include reduced safety margins. However, it is important for us to emphasize that reducing the safety margins in network operation must not come at the expense of security of supply, says Løvås.
