Weather Affects Road Conditions

On Monday morning, residents of eastern and southern Norway experienced difficult road conditions due to heavy snowfall. The meteorologist on duty at the Meteorological Institute, Per Egil Haga, warned about the need to reserve additional time during the morning rush.

Heavy Snowfall Causes Accidents

In some regions of eastern Norway, snow began to fall on Sunday. The Hague predicted that rainfall intensity would increase in the evening and overnight, reaching up to 15 cm. These conditions create challenges for drivers, especially in the morning hours.

Road incidents and police appeal

Several accidents occurred due to bad weather conditions:

  • On the E18 road in Asker, a car went off the road, hitting a barrier. The police reported slow traffic and slippery roads.
  • In Agder, road accidents included a car driving off the road in Kristiansand and a collision with a snowplow in Iveland.
  • In the Holmestrand Vestfold and Telemark region, snowy and slippery roads caused a car to drive into a ditch.

Police in Oslo called on people without winter tires to leave cars at home. They warned drivers to adapt their driving style to the conditions and keep an appropriate distance from other vehicles.

Meteorologists issued a yellow snowfall warning on Sunday morning, which remains in effect until Tuesday night. Road challenges were expected to occur on both Monday and Tuesday morning.
