The highest absolute growth was recorded in the Viken region
The largest percentage increases were recorded in the Nordland and Trøndelag regions, where number of bankruptcies increased by 44 and 43 percent, respectively. However, the largest absolute increase was recorded in the Viken region, where 218 more bankruptcies were announced. None of the regions recorded a decrease in the number of bankruptcies.
Record number of bankruptcies in 2023
There were 2023 bankruptcies filed in the fourth quarter of 1, an 186 percent increase over the same period last year. The remaining 772 bankruptcies concerned sole proprietorships, including personal bankruptcies. In this category, the number of bankruptcies increased by 15 percent, which is 99 more than in the previous year. 41 percent of bankrupts operated in the construction industry.
