On Wednesday and Thursday the country will be colder, and the coast will be heavy rainfall.

- We expect a serious situation that requires preparation and could cause serious damage, says Elise Trondsen in the flood and landslide warning for NVE.

A red warning was announced for Wednesday for avalanches from Hardanger in the south to Ofoten in the north.

Especially in Sogn og Fjordane and Møre og Romsdal there will be a lot of rainfall, but neither Trøndelag nor Nordland will be spared the rain.

- This is the second highest avalanche risk. Precipitation and wind can create particularly large, natural avalanches, says Odd Arne Mikkelsen, duty officer.

NVE has set a rainfall emergency level orange in Sogn og Fjordane, Sør-Trøndelag, Møre og Romsdal and Oppland.

"There will be 100 to 200 millimeters of precipitation in western Norway on Wednesday and Thursday," says state meteorologist Geir Ottar Fagerlid.

The NVE expects the snow melting to coincide with the peak rainfall in southern and central Norway.

Trondsen predicts landslides, extensive flooding, and erosive damage.

"This is an unusual situation," says Trondsen, and encourages you to be prepared for any possible weather-related dangers.
