IMPORTANT NOTES: The spiral should be modernized to be safer and more accessible. It closes annually from January 2 to July 1, then does night work until November.
Opening hours
As planned, the tunnel will have normal opening hours from November 2020. Alternative points to ascend the mountain are: Zikk Zakken, Kloptjern, Neperudjordet, Landfalltjern and from Åskvisla in Lier.

Spiral in Drammen - what is it?
Spiral is the Bragernesåsen spiral car tunnel in Drammen. The driveway is in the Bragernes district behind the Drammen hospital. The tunnel curves six and a half times around its axis and ends in the fresh air at Spiraltop or Lower Skanse. There is a restaurant upstairs with outdoor seating. By the way, extremely atmospheric at any time of the year. The sitting area with a view of Drammensdalen and the open-air museum is within walking distance. In 2016, CNN named the tunnel one of the best in the world.
The entrance to the Spiral is located in the original quarry. In the 1961s, the drama was about creating two new streets. Rosenkrantzgata and Bjørnstärn Bjørnsons gate needed large amounts of stone for equipment. City engineer Eivind Olsen had the idea to make the city quarry an attraction while being less daunting. That's why he came up with the idea to build a spiral tunnel overhead. The opening took place on the anniversary of Drammen City in XNUMX by King Olav V.
