Came to Oslo on Tuesday

According to the Norwegian services, a 30-year-old man suspected of terrorist activity was arrested last weekend. He arrived in Oslo on Tuesday and has been closely watched since then. He was supposed to organize an attack on media organizations and private individuals to whom he issued threats. The head of the PST security agency, Martin Bernsen, however, declines to comment further on the matter. It also does not disclose to the public whether the detainee was already known to the Norwegian services.

An investigation is ongoing

However, further arrests are possible. Martin Bernsen claims that the suspect was arrested with specialized units. An investigation is also underway to find out the general situation, which will allow the man to be accused. Account will be taken of the testimony of individuals and institutions that may have fallen victim to the Islamic fundamentalist.

Up to 6 years in prison

The suspect faces up to 6 years in prison. He will be tried on charges of violating section 117 of Norwegian criminal law, which is related to "posing a threat to the proper functioning of important institutions, such as public figures, political parties and media organizations through the use of force, violence or threats and other illegal and organized means. The detainee's defense attorney, Mette Yvonne Larsen, refuses to comment on this matter.
