On May 26, we are celebrating Mother's Day in Poland. The important role they play in human life is evidenced by the fact that the cult of the "Mother Goddess" was developed already in prehistory. It is also worth remembering that Poles celebrate this day at a different time than the Norwegians. The latter celebrate Mother's Day on the second Sunday in February.
Internationalization of Mother's Day
The first evidence of the cult of the "Mother Goddess" was found in the prehistoric culture of Catal Huyuk, whose Neolithic settlement is located near Konya in Turkey. However, it was not until the beginning of the 1907th century that steps were taken to internationalize Mother's Day. This was due to the activity of Anna Maria Reevers Jarvis, who started her activity in this direction in 45. She was motivated by her mother's dreams that this day would become an international holiday. After just a few years of efforts, these dreams became a reality in XNUMX states, Mexico and Puerto Rico. Today, people in virtually all countries celebrate this day, although it is held on different dates.
Mother's Day in Poland
The tradition of celebrating this holiday reached Poland in 1923. Mother's Day was held for the first time in Krakow. To this day, it is one of the most joyfully celebrated days in many homes. In addition to wishes, larger or smaller gifts are also given.

The most common gifts given to mothers on the occasion of their holiday are flowers, greeting cards and sweets. However, there are other options to gift your beloved mother on her day.
