Today at 20:45 we will have the opportunity to see the Polish national football team on the pitch. This is the first game since the failed World Cup in Russia. It is also the debut of the new coach, Jerzy Brzęczek. Our opponent will be the national team of Italy, which did not appear at this year's World Cup.
Building the team from scratch
Jerzy Brzęczek faces a difficult task. It is certain that he must give up the services of Kamil Grosicki, who does not play for his club, and find a worthy successor to Jakub Błaszczykowski. Although the right winger's club situation is as tragic as "Turbo Grosik's", he was called up for the national team training camp.
After unsuccessful ones World Championships Łukasz Piszczek resigned from his national team career. Huge hopes are placed on Bartosz Bereszyński, who is hoping to fill the hole on the right defense. The player excels in Serie A and there is basically no competition for his position.
Left-back problem, insecure center of defense
Maciej Rybus has played a little out of necessity on the left back so far. However, the player suffered a groin injury and therefore the new selector has to bet on Arkadiusz Reca or Rafał Pietrzak. Reca is just building his position in Serie A, so it is possible that the Wisła Kraków player will get his chance.
We will see Kamil Glik in the middle of the defensive. Jan Bednarek will probably play next to him, although he is competing for a place in the starting line-up with Marcin Kamiński. Both players can effectively play in defense, and their current club situation is similar - each of them has played one game this season. Jan Bednarek played at the World Cup and we will probably see him in the starting line-up.
What about help?
Grzegorz Krychowiak (he was revived in Lokomitiwa) and Piotr Zieliński, who impresses with his form in Serie A, have a certain place in the second formation. The starting line-up probably includes Mateusz Klich, who revived in his club this season. With this choice, we may see Karol Linetty on the pitch, but as a substitute.
However, it is not known what our wings will look like. Rafał Kurzawa will probably play on the left side. Maciej Makuszewski was supposed to appear on the right, but he suffered an injury during the training camp. In such a situation, we will most likely see Jakub Błaszczykowski on the pitch. Although he has a difficult club situation, he has a heart to fight and has shown many times that he can take advantage of the opportunities he receives from fate.
Attack = Lewandowski
In the starting eleven we will see Robert Lewandowski. Krzysztof Piątek will probably appear on the pitch as a substitute, whose position this season is amazing. Virtually every contact with the ball turns into a goal, as evidenced, among others, by 3 goals scored in Serie A and also 4 in the Italian Cup against Lecce.
