100th anniversary of regaining the independence of Poland
Zbigniew Górski also spoke about the celebrations and events that were prepared by the Polish Saturday School in Fredrikstad and the Union of Poles to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Poland's independence. The main event will be the "Concert for Independence" performed by Polish pianist Marek Bracha. It will take place on November 24 (Saturday) at 18 p.m. in the assembly hall of the Library, located near the school.
Language is the home of immigrants
He also emphasized the fact that for Poles living in exile, their native language is their homeland. He appealed to care for him and to be interested in the history of the country we come from. This shapes Polish identity and allows you to remember where and who we are from. He donated two books about the recent history of Poland, i.e. the period of the Second World War. These publications are intended to help better understand the tragic events that took place on the territory of the Polish state in 1939-1944.

Polish Saturday School in Fredrikstad has a new headmistress. This function is currently performed by Wioletta Knitter, MA. Zbigniew Górski wished her permanent teaching staff, success in teaching and that at the next start of the school year so many children would not be able to fit into the school's auditorium. After the end of Zbigniew Górski's appeal, the Polish national anthem was played in the loudspeakers, and the new headmistress took the floor.
Much depends on the students and parents
Wioletta Knitter, MA, thanked for the numerous attendance. She emphasized that the way the school works depends not only on the teaching staff, but also on the children and their parents. Not only in the buffet
Wioletta Knitter, MA also emphasized the importance of various parental skills. Teachers running school interest clubs need help. The Polish Saturday School in Fredrikstad is open to parents' suggestions regarding extending the educational offer. Thus, the headmistress encouraged parents to cooperate in co-creating the school reality.
National Reading
During the celebrations initiating the new school year, the "National Reading" was also held. An excerpt from Stefan Żeromski's book "Przedwiośnie" has been selected. This book deals with the beginnings of Polish statehood. The choice is not accidental - the action takes place in 1918, exactly at the time when Poland regained independence. The part was read in which the father persuades his son to return to his homeland. It tempts him with a vision of glass houses, thus idealizing the Polish state.
