The success of Polish hairdressers at OMC. Another World Hairdressing Championships were held in the French capital. This year, the Polish National Hairdressing Team had as many as 16 players and was the largest in history. The Norwegian Polonia was represented by Kamila Janecka-Skalska, who took third place in the team competitions. Apart from her, the team also included Joanna Jakóbek and Iwona Ostrowska.
Prestigious professions
World Cup in Paris lasted only two days, but was preceded by many weeks of preparations. In total, the players completed 700 hours of training under the supervision of world champions - Andrzej and Paweł Matracki, Tomasz Zimny, Paweł Piotrowski and Tindaro Orifici. Most of the training took place in Olsztyn.
- We managed to create a staff full of wonderful people, devoted to hairdressing, their clients, devoted to this profession without limits, and at the same time able to find time (often at the expense of their family) for exhausting training far from home - says Andrzej Matracki, multiple world champion.

The first day without success
On the first day of the competition it was not possible to win any medal. Happiness came on Monday. Jacek Chamera from Olsztyn stood on the podium of the World Championships, winning a bronze for his classic hairstyle. A year ago, Chamera became the junior world champion winning gold.
- I ended my junior career with gold, and I started my senior career with bronze, can you imagine a more beautiful beginning? - asks rhetorically the second world runner-up.
Podium also for women
The female part of Kadra also stood on the podium. As a team team, Joanna Jakóbek, Iwona Ostrowska and Kamila Janecka-Skalska won the bronze medal. Ladies took part in several competitions - incl. commercial and wedding haircut.

- Our hairstyles were a surprise for the competition, we showed that our hairdressing is at a very high level - admits Joanna Jakóbek, who won the world championship a year ago. - It was supposed to be my last championship, but it was not possible to defend the gold, so I will come back here next year - he adds.
Right off the podium
For classic and creative hairstyles, Poles took 4th place - Jacek Chamera, Tomasz Sobocik and Jolanta Ratajczak were on the podium.
- There was so little, a few tenths of a point, but this result still gives us an honorable position in the forefront of the world hairdressing - says Tomasz Sobocik.
Piotr Karczewski from Prabuty, representing Poland in the Hair Tatoo category, took the 5th position.

In addition, awards were presented in the Photo Award category in Paris. The first place was taken by Jagoda Korzeniewska from Pruszków.
- Such successes only motivate me to continue my work, a year ago it was bronze, now it is gold - admits Jagoda Korzeniewska.
The new president of Western Europe
Delegates of the largest hairdressing federation in the world, OMC, also elected a new president of Western Europe at the 37th world congress. It was a Pole - Andrzej Matracki. "It is a great distinction and an honor for my career so far," says Matracki. He will start his 4-year term on December 15.
His brother Paweł received a medal for his contribution to the world hairdressing.
Representatives in the "Barber" category
In addition, the team was also represented in the barber category (for the first time at the World Championships) - Kamil Cesarski, Marcin Gizinski, Daniel Górka, Mario Mayer, Mahdi Saidani and Krzysztof Klimczak. Avant-garde hairstyles were prepared by - Piotr Karczewski, Jagoda Korzeniewska and Beata Korczynska. The youngest member of the staff was Marceli Drożdżyk (aged 18), the oldest Aleksander Stankiewicz (aged 75).
