. The guest of the last Radio Wataha broadcast was Magdalena Tutka-Gwóźdź, director of the Polish Film Days - Polske filmdager, which are celebrating their 5th anniversary this year. This event is devoted to Polish film culture and art. This year the festival will be held in Oslo (6.10/13) and Fredrikstad (21.10 - XNUMX/XNUMX). We talked about where the idea for the organization of the project came from, what it looks like and what the viewers can expect in the live broadcast.
Polish filmdager - the birth of an idea
The idea took real shape in 2014. The idea was born on the basis of Magdalena Tutka-Gwóźdź's observations on the life of Poles in Norway. From the very beginning, it was supposed to be a cyclical event that would promote Polish culture and art both among Poles and Norwegians. One-off events can attract a large audience, but without the creation of a cyclical event, it will not be possible to integrate the Norwegian Polish Diaspora, or integrate with the Norwegians

Mission for children
The birth of a child, the founder of Polske filmdager, was also an impulse for action. There was then a reflection on the future of all children born in Norway. This festival plays an educational role in relation to Polish children born abroad, increasing their chances of contact with Polish culture and art. The project was successfully implemented thanks to cooperation with the HumanDOC foundation in Warsaw, with one-off financial support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2014. Subsequent editions were co-financed by Norwegian institutions as well as Polish and Norwegian sponsors. However, it should be remembered that these were subsidies covering only part of the basic costs. The organization of the 5th edition was therefore also associated with a large investment of the main organizer, i.e. International Creativity Workshop AS.

Polish-Norwegian environment
The organizers were guided by the idea of not only promoting Polish culture, but most of all creating a Polish-Norwegian environment. Therefore, during the first years of her activity, Magdalena Tutka-Gwóźdź tried to reach mainly Norwegians who should feel invited by Poles to learn about our culture. Currently, activities promoting Polish culture among Norwegians are equated with promotional activities among Poles living in Norway.
Contests
Contests are organized on the occasion of the 5th half-jubilee edition of Polska Filmdager. The first concerns an outstanding Polish poet, playwright and essayist who died exactly 20 years ago. The first question is related to this writer and it reads as follows:
What is the name of the outstanding Polish poet, whose works will be presented at the exhibition in Fredrikstad during the Polske filmdager?
After finding the name on the website www.polskefilmdager.org, one more stanza from a selected poem by this poet should be quoted. Award there are two free tickets to the concertveronica synger!“. Two more tickets will be drawn for the concert which will take place in Cosmopolitan Scene On February 1, 2019, performed by Kuba Więcek Trio.
The competition runs until October 4!
The first music video for classical music
The program also included the first classical music video produced in Poland. The pianist Barbara Hortyńska played in it, who will perform on October 6 on the Cosmopolite Scene during the concert "veronica synger!“. She will be accompanied by the excellent singer Kamila Goik. The ladies are preparing a special program of film music on the occasion of their participation in the Polske filmdager festival. The artistic program is dedicated to Krzysztof Kieślowski, so the music that is responsible for creating the unique atmosphere in his productions will be presented.
Partners and cooperation
Polish filmdager can take place thanks to establishing a partnership with entities operating in Norway. In Oslo, the organizers cooperate with Cosmopolitan Scene, last year awarded the title of “Best jazz club in Norway”. In Fredrikstad, however, there is this Fredrikstad Cinemawhich has been awarded many times for the organization of international film festivals. Contacts with the Polish film industry and artists from Poland, who are very eager to visit the festival and meet the Polish diaspora, play an equally important role. Every year, about 50-60 people of both Polish and Norwegian origin - including many volunteers - cooperate with the festival.
Non-profit profile and sponsors
Polish filmdager is a virtually non-commercial undertaking. In the last 4 years, the organizers organized a total of 73 non-ticketed events. This year, the festival also offers free admission to all events in Fredrikstad. It was possible thanks to obtaining external financing, as well as the support of sponsors. Magdalena Tutka-Gwóźdź special thanks to the MyCall company, which supported the festival for three years. The event is expensive due to the rich program and the participation of many Polish artists, which is why the organizers also encourage other companies to act as sponsors. It is particularly sought after, among others permanent accommodation for artists.
