A few days ago, the third award ceremony for the best footballers in the world, The Best Football FIFA Awards, took place in London. This time, it was not Ronaldo or Messi who triumphed on the podium, but Luka Modrić.

Annual gala which awards football awards to the best footballers in the world. The International Football Federation is the one that decides who will be the winner of a given category. This year, the gala was held for the third time, it premiered in 2016.

Award categories
This year's gala had seven categories of awards, in which it rewarded the winners. Additionally, as every year, eleven of the year were selected. The categories in which the awards were granted are: Puskas, best coach, best goalkeeper, best coach in women's football, fan award, team of the year, footballer of the year and footballer of the year.
Laureates
Until now, when the gala took place, its winners were invariably Cristiano Ronaldo and Leo Messi. This year the cards turned, because from the very beginning the bookmakers' favorite was Luka Modrica, who had to deal with the above-mentioned players, but also with Mohamed Salah. The Croatian footballer, as it was said in the backstage, was second to none this year. He was awarded the best footballer of the year category. CR7 and Leo Messi honored the absence at the gala. Both arguments had strong arguments that attested to the reasons for their absence. However, it is said that the lack of their company was due to the knowledge of low chances of winning.

Other awards
The best footballer category is considered the most important of the night. However, before the current viewers and viewers in front of the TV found out who was the best, the leaders announced the remaining results. In this way, Didier Deschamps became the best coach, Thibaut Courtois became the best goalkeeper, the fans' award went to Peruvian fans who quit their jobs and sold cars to support their national team. The best footballer was Marta from the Brazilian national team, and Reynald Pedros became the best coach in women's football.
